Winter weather returns Friday. As a strong cold front pushes through during the day showers and thunderstorms will kick off early in the day as temps drop throughout the day the activity will switch over to a sleet/snow mix before exiting overnight. Current trends are showing accumulations across the entire region, I believe areas along and north of I44 will see the higher snow accumulation numbers ranging from a dusting to 3 inches, further south you will see a higher sleet to snow ratio under the 3 inch mark. I will fine tune this once NAM catches up to the new information today and possibly the ECMWF guidance. There is a small risk of strong storms however the best chance for that will be NWAR and S-NEOK.
