RAG Winter 02/22/24 8:00 AM

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM TO 6 PM CST MONDAY...

* WHAT...Wet snow expected. Total snow accumulations up to 5 inches.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast Kansas and central, east central, south central, and southwest Missouri.

* WHEN...From 2 AM to 6 PM CST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A narrow heavy snow band will likely develop somewhere within the advisory area with localized amounts higher than 5 inches possible within this narrow band.

An area of rain will mix with and change to snow late tonight across southern Missouri. Some minor accumulations are possible through 6 AM Monday.

A relatively narrow band of moderate to heavy snow is still expected to develop over portions of the area Monday. The exact placement of the snow band remains uncertain. There is medium to high confidence it will be over the forecast area, but we can`t pinpoint exactly where at this time. Snowfall amounts will be highly variable, with several inches possible where the band tracks and little to no snowfall elsewhere. A winter weather advisory has been issued for much of the area for late tonight through Monday.
